Memory in a Bottle arrives at People Make Grimsby in Freshney Place, bringing the coastline into the heart of the town. Hosted by What If We Create CIC, this community arts space celebrates Grimsby’s heritage and the people who shape it, offering a welcoming home for creativity, skill-sharing, and local stories.

The full exhibition unfolds here – the banners, the portraits, and a specially commissioned soundscape – transforming a busy shopping centre into a place to pause. Within this setting, coastal memories sit alongside Grimsby’s own traditions of making and creating, offering a moment of connection between past and present.

Visitors are invited to wander through the installation and listen as voices from across the Lincolnshire coast fill the space. These stories carry memories of salt air, family rituals, working lives, and places loved and lost. Together they form a shared archive of what the coast means to the people who know it best.

Whether the shoreline is part of your everyday or a distant memory, Memory in a Bottle invites you to stop, reflect and reconnect — reminding us that our landscape is shaped as much by those who remember it as by the tide itself.
