STORIES CELEBRATING THE LINCOLNSHIRE COAST
Memory in a Bottle is a joyful celebration of the people, places and stories of the Lincolnshire Coast.
Funded by Arts Council England and Create North East Lincolnshire, this creative project brings generations together to share coastal memories through a travelling exhibition, an online gallery, a podcast series, and fun, hands-on workshops in schools.
Whether you’re local or just love the seaside, Memory in a Bottle offers a fresh look at the unique heritage of one of England’s most overlooked but fascinating coastlines.
THE
EXHIBITION

Memory in a Bottle comes to life at the stunning North Sea Observatory, perched on the edge of the Lincolnshire coast. With sweeping views of the sea and sky, this unique glass-fronted venue provides the perfect backdrop for sharing personal stories and coastal memories. Surrounded by the sounds of the shoreline and the ever-changing light of the horizon, gather to reflect, reminisce, and preserve the moments that shape our coastline.

THE
PODCAST
The Memory in a Bottle podcast follows Jess as she travels the Lincolnshire coast, gathering stories from those who know it best. From Grimsby to Skegness, the series explores seaside traditions, community spirit, and the lasting impact of the 1953 floods.
Along the way, Jess speaks with locals, historian Dr Kathryn Ferry on Butlin’s legacy, and Professor Vanessa Toulmin on the circus’s coastal roots. A special behind-the-scenes episode also shares insights from the creative team behind the project.
